About Emily Brown, MS, CNS
Hi! I’m Emily, a functional clinical nutritionist and autoimmune health coach. I help women and men struggling with autoimmune disorders and other chronic conditions, who are suffering silently from debilitating fatigue, muscle and joint pain, insane brain fog, and unwanted weight changes, to reclaim control of their bodies using targeted nutrition, small sustainable changes, and overall lifestyle modification.
My Story
I launched into health and wellness coaching in 2019 after working for over a decade as an award-winning journalist. My journey began a decade ago, before this career change when I gave birth to my first child. I was under a great deal of mental stress at the time, working in a job that was not aligned with my purpose. The pressure eventually took its toll when, after leaving a routine pregnancy check-up, I got a frantic call from the nurse who said I needed to return to the hospital immediately.
After being admitted, the doctors said I had severe preeclampsia, and the risk of having a seizure and losing my daughter’s life and my own was too significant. Therefore, they needed to perform a c-section as soon as possible.
However, I was only 29 weeks along. So the doctors and nurses administered protocols to speed up my baby’s development. Finally, after four days, I underwent surgery. Yet, my health story didn’t end there.
Shortly after, I began experiencing mysterious symptoms, including constipation for weeks, sudden weight gain, bloating, dry skin and hair, inability to form coherent thoughts, memory loss, and depression.
After a few months of speculation, I met with a doctor who diagnosed me with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, which I later learned is quite common among women postpartum. Then, after several years, I was diagnosed with two other autoimmune-related conditions, including vitiligo.
To be clear, it has not been an easy road. But what became evident over the years is how critical quality nutrition, consistent movement, and a positive mindset are at the foundation of optimal well-being — even in the presence of disease.
Indeed, my experience living with three autoimmune conditions galvanizes my mission to walk with women and men as they discover what’s holding them back from optimal health and support them in making lasting changes. As a result, my clients feel better, look better, and have the zest and energy to live a life they’ll love!
To that end, I offer personalized care plans that focus on an anti-inflammatory protocol and whole foods nutrition, emotional wellness, empowerment strategies, and behavioral change methods rooted in scientific evidence. I also believe that everyone, no matter their body size, deserves a personalized approach to health and wellness that does not focus merely on weight loss but on the underlying root cause. Therefore, I adhere to a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size approach to health and wellness.
I support the following conditions, and more:
